Apollo Glass Gives Back: Supporting the Buffalo Food Shelf and Fighting Hunger in Our Community
At Apollo Glass, we believe that local businesses have a responsibility to give back to the communities that support them. That’s why we’re proud to partner with the Buffalo Food Shelf, an incredible organization fighting food insecurity right here in Buffalo, Minnesota. Through our Apollo Glass Gives Back initiative, we’re honored to contribute to their mission, and we invite you to join us in helping ensure no one in our community goes hungry.
Why We Choose to Support the Buffalo Food Shelf
Food insecurity is an issue that affects families in our community and beyond. While we might not always see it firsthand, we know that many individuals rely on the Buffalo Food Shelf for essential support. Their work provides a vital safety net for those facing financial hardship or crisis.
That’s why Apollo Glass donates a portion of our profits to the Buffalo Food Shelf: To help provide nutritious food and basic necessities for our neighbors in need. Together, we can help make sure every family in Buffalo has a reason to sit down and share a meal. For any size donation made through November 30th, Apollo Glass will donate $100 — up to $3,000 total!
About the Buffalo Food Shelf
The Buffalo Food Shelf is a Christian, non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to serving individuals and families with limited financial assistance or who are going through difficult times. Beyond providing food and hygiene products, they also connect people to social agencies and resources that can further assist with long-term stability.
They distribute food during the following times:
- Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6 – 7:30 PM
- Friday mornings from 10:30 AM – 12 PM
*Senior Days are the First Monday of each month from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM.
Buffalo Food Shelf by the Numbers
So far this year, the Buffalo Food Shelf has already made an incredible impact, distributing 256,142 pounds of food and serving more than 1,273 adults, 237 seniors, and 756 children in our community. Additionally, 91,023 pounds of food were distributed at drive-through, holiday, and kids’ choice distribution events.
Unfortunately, those numbers also highlight a growing challenge: more Minnesotans are relying on local food shelves than ever before. Rising grocery costs, growing unemployment rates, and uncertainty around SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits have all contributed to a sharp increase in demand.
Families who once got by without assistance are now turning to organizations like the Buffalo Food Shelf to make ends meet. Their work is more critical than ever, and that’s why community support from individuals and businesses alike can make such a difference.
